Orthopedic Surgeries began on the Africa Mercy

On October 21 st orthopedic surgeries started for 66 pediatric patients on-board the Africa Mercy hospital. As 12 October 2013 for the Congo 2013/2014 field service 282 surgeries have been accomplished (maxillofacial and eyes surgeries). Two ward nurses started mentoring with maxillofacial.

Mercy Ships Partner With Mumbai Rotary Club to Train West Africa Surgeons

A team of four eye surgeons from India joined the Africa Mercy in Conakry, Guinea, West Africa early this year to train eye surgeons performing cataract surgeries. Arun Chaudhari, who led the team said: “Serving as a volunteer was a truly rewarding and exciting experience. I have been to many camps and training programs in the past, but working in Conakry gave me a true sense of service. I am very thankful to Rotary for providing me such a rich platform to serve humanity beyond caste, creed, religion, and borders.” Click here to read  article.

Ethicon a Johnson and Johnson subsidiary donates all surgical sutures used on-board the Africa Mercy. This allows Mercy Ships to provide surgeries free of charge in Africa. In the past 10 years Johnson and Johnson has provided more than 2 million dollar in cash and products and 3 thousands hygiene kits a year direct to Mercy Ships. Click here to see video .

"Missionary Finds Healing Aboard 'Mercy Ships'"is the title of the Ebony.com article about Tori Robson who serves on the Africa Mercy. I met Tori here in Texas when she attended the Basic Safety Training, Crowd Management and The Effective Receptionist courses here before joining the Africa Mercy. She is a great example of God’s work in the heart of a seeking generation.
