The Joy of Christmas: Family
Family is what makes Christmas significant, not the gifts,
the food, or the Christmas tree. There is always a gift you dream about and
want desperately receive. When you
receive it at Christmas day you feel the luckiest person the whole world. Nevertheless, what makes the gift memorable
is the expectation at the family gathering waiting for your turn to open your
gift, unwrap the packet and show to others what you got.
That is what family is all about. Joseph and
Mary were there to hear angelical voices singing praises, but also to flee to
an unknown land in order to protect their child from the wrath of a ruthless
ruler. Family is special because they are there independent of one’s desire. This
Christmas season let’s enjoy family, let’s savor the food, let’s open the
presents no matter the size of price, and let’s enjoy each other presence
because family is what makes Christmas memorable.
In his infinite wisdom God found family the right place for
his Son to born, to grow and to develop. Joseph and Mary were the perfect
parents for Jesus. The witnessed the miracle of Divine conception, a coir of angels,
shepherds and far-east kings bringing gifts to a child born in a stable. Can
you imagine what went through Joseph and Mary’s mind as they went through all
those events only to be warned to flee to a foreign land to save their lives
